When Bloomsburg gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop a heavy mix of organic debris that fills local channels. Broadleaf trees like red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum shed oak catkins in spring, followed by acorns and spiky sweetgum balls later in the year. Eastern white pine needles also settle into channels. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, packing gutters tightly. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels open. In a Bloomsburg winter, freezing nights and snow create ice dams in clogged gutters, which can tear heavy aluminum away from the fascia and force meltwater into the home.
