Common Gutter Clog Conditions
Water overflow and drainage delays usually happen when debris settles into the system. Depending on the setting of your home, several conditions can affect performance:
- Organic debris such as leaves, twigs, seed pods, and pine needles settling along the gutter runs
- Granules washing down from shingles and collecting into dense sediment along the base
- Blockages forming at downspout outlets, preventing water from exiting through vertical drops
- Debris matting across the tops of gutters or screens, causing runoff to sheet over the edges
