When Belleville gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop heavy materials into local gutter channels. Fallen leaves, winged maple seeds, thick acorns, and fine pine needles gather rapidly near rooflines. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling roof gutters right before winter sets in. Freezing nights happen regularly, and winter snow is likely across Illinois, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here. Trapped slush and frozen fall debris still weigh down structural fascia. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep total proper water flow clear.
