When Beach Park gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop heavy organic matter onto roofs throughout the year. Fallen leaves, maple seed wings, acorns, and pine needles build up quickly. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, clogging every gutter line before winter. Freezing nights happen regularly in Illinois, so trapped water freezes solid, causing ice dams in gutters that expand and pull metal sections away from the roofline. Snow piling on top of full channels exacerbates this weight. We recommend schedule cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep channels completely clear year-round.
