When Atlanta gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop debris across Atlanta during every season. Broadleaf live oaks drop green leaves in early spring, while post oak catkins, cedar elm leaves, and crape myrtle blossoms fill roof channels quickly. Loblolly pine needles fall year-round, and ashe juniper drops winter pollen. Heavy leaf drop usually peaks in early November, packing the gutter channels before winter. Freezing nights happen in Texas, so trapped water in full gutters can freeze, expand, and pull gutter hangers away from the fascia, though ice dams are not an issue. We recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to maintain proper water flow.
