When Asbury Park gutters fill up
Coastal trees common in the region drop organic heavy loads into local gutters throughout the year. Broadleaf species like red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum release oak catkins in spring, while eastern white pine needles drop steadily. Spiky sweetgum balls, acorns, and heavy fallen leaves fill channels during fall, with leaf drop usually peaking in mid October. Winter brings freezing nights and snow, making open drainage paths critical before cold air arrives. Even though ice dams in gutters are not an issue here, wet organic matter easily freezes solid. We recommend scheduling a full gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall.
