When Asbury Lake gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, including broadleaf live oak, water oak, sweetgum, red maple, southern magnolia, loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine, constantly drop material into gutter channels. In spring, oak leaves and yellow pollen fill the gutter network, followed by sweetgum balls and heavy acorns later in the year. Pine needles drop all year long, creating dense mats that trap standing moisture in the downspout elbows. Freezing nights are rare and ice dams are not an issue here, but heavy rain combined with trapped plant debris quickly overflows the system. We recommend professional gutter cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep water moving.
