When Arbutus gutters fill up
Trees common in the region, such as red maple, sweetgum, water oak, broadleaf live oak, and southern magnolia, drop heavy matter onto roofs. Conifers like loblolly pine, longleaf pine, and slash pine shed pine needles into gutter systems all year. Spring brings thick yellow pollen, while sweetgum balls and acorns drop alongside broad leaves. Mid October usually marks the peak of fall leaf drop across Arbutus. Winter brings freezing nights and likely snow, turning trapped damp debris into heavy slush along eaves. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to protect the residential gutter channel before winter weather freezes stuck water inside downspouts.
