When Antigo gutters fill up
Tree species common in the region, including broadleaf sugar maple, red maple, bur oak, hickory, American elm, white pine, and spruce, drop debris into gutters throughout the year. Fallen leaves, maple seed wings, acorns, and sharp pine needles quickly build up along the roof edge. Leaf drop usually peaks in early October, filling channels right before cold winter weather arrives. Freezing nights happen frequently in Antigo, Wisconsin, and blocked water turns into heavy ice dams in gutters during winter. To keep water flowing freely, we recommend gutter cleaning at least twice a year, during spring and fall, clearing away seasonal buildup before ice dams or spring rains cause serious damage.
