Conditions That Lead to Blocked Gutters
Accumulations of organic matter and roof silt are common sources of drainage problems. Depending on surrounding trees and property conditions, several factors can restrict water movement:
- Leaves, twigs, and seed pods settling directly into the gutter channels.
- Granules washing down from shingles and collecting along seams.
- Nesting materials or windblown debris obstructing upper downspout openings.
- Standing water caused by heavy debris dams during seasonal storms.
