When Airmont gutters fill up
Trees common in the region drop a steady stream of debris onto local residential properties. Broadleaf red maple, white oak, hickory, tulip poplar, and sweetgum release oak catkins during spring, followed by spiky sweetgum balls, acorns, and heavy leaf fall. Eastern white pine adds needles year-round. Leaf drop usually peaks in mid October, filling channel runs right before cold weather arrives. Freezing nights happen and snow is likely, though ice dams in gutters are not an issue. Trapped wet leaves quickly turn into solid blockages when winter hits. We recommend cleaning at least twice a year, spring and fall, to keep every downspout clear.
